🛠️ FLEX Rescue Kit – MicroSD Card Swap (Rescue) Guide

Welcome to the official support guide for the FLEX Rescue Kit. This kit empowers Steady Brand dealers and technicians to restore FLEX audio players in the field—without needing to ship them back for service.


âś… Purpose of the FLEX Rescue Kit

The FLEX Rescue Kit allows you to perform a MicroSD card swap (“Rescue”) to bring an unresponsive FLEX device back online. This procedure replaces the internal card with a fresh one and reboots the player into a clean state.


⚠️ Before You Begin

🔍 This Rescue process should only be performed after all standard troubleshooting steps have been tried, and you've confirmed with Steady Brand Technical Support that it’s the right next step.

Please ensure:

  • You are in a controlled environment with:

    • A known-good Ethernet internet connection

    • Proper lighting and a clean, static-safe surface

  • You’ve exhausted all other recovery methods

  • You’ve consulted Steady Brand Support or been instructed to proceed


🧰 What’s in the Kit

  • 5x blank MicroSD cards (contact Steady Brand for additional cards)

  • 4x backplate screws

  • 1x hex tool kit (includes both 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm bits)

  • 1x anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)

  • Instructional stickers on the front and back of the case

🔩 Note on Screws:
All FLEX models use the same thread size. The only difference is the hex bit size:

  • Use 1.5 mm for FLEX units made in 2025 and beyond

  • Use 2.0 mm for units made in 2024 or earlier


🔄 Rescue Procedure – Step-by-Step

  1. Disconnect power and Ethernet from the FLEX device.

  2. Use the hex tool to remove the four backplate screws.

  3. Remove the backplate and locate the MicroSD card.

  4. Press gently to release and remove the existing card, noting the orientation.

  5. Insert a fresh card from the kit in the same position (should "click" into place).

  6. Close the chassis and reinstall the screws (reuse or replace).

  7. Reconnect Ethernet and power.

  8. Wait 5–7 minutes for the system to reinitialize.


🟢 Expected Outcome

  • The device should power up and automatically reach out to the server.

  • You should see a solid green LED when the device is online.

  • Audio playback should resume once configuration is reloaded.


❌ Still Not Working?

If the device remains offline, shows no green LED, or doesn't resume playback after 7 minutes, please submit a warranty request or contact Steady Brand Support at (833) 833-1283 for further instructions.
