Port Availability & Whitelisting

Port Availability & Whitelisting

FLEX Connecting to Admin Portal

The Flex device is configured to be a DHCP client by default.

Please note that the Flex device uses a Web Secure Socket connection in order to communicate with the Device Portal.
To run smoothly within a LAN the following ports need to be available for communication with the Device's services:

  • Port 80 -> HTTP (HTTP traffic)
  • Port 443 -> HTTPS (HTTPS traffic)
  • Port 123 -> NTP (NTP time traffic)
  • Port 53 -> DNS (DNS lookup - needed by your browser and units to lookup domain names)
Whitelisting anything *.barix.com is best to allow the FLEX to connect to the admin portal.

FLEX Devices streaming Music

(does not apply to remote-load message playback)

If stream playback issues persist, it is recommended that you whitelist *.overheadmusic.com

NOTE: If an asterisk does not function as a wildcard to allow "(anything).overheadmusic.com" then whitelist all of the following URLs:
  1. streaming.overheadmusic.com
  2. streaming1.overheadmusic.com
  3. streaming2.overheadmusic.com
  4. streaming3.overheadmusic.com
  5. streaming4.overheadmusic.com
  6. streaming5.overheadmusic.com

Other Solutions would be enabling the QoS on the router to accommodate and prioritize traffic. See your network manager for this feature.
